Daycare Enrollment Photos: Isolate the Smile, Leave the Classroom Clutter Out
Cut toy piles and cubby labels off a phone still for enrollment packets and Google. Keep faces honest — this is room cleanup, not a new child.
Written by Backgroundcanvas Editorial, the team that builds these image tools. We disclose that affiliation here. Platform sizes and rules below come from the linked official docs, not from a lab bake-off.
Parents decide before the tour
Before
Enrollment packets, Google Business, and a Facebook inquiry all stall when the only smiling still shows a mountain of blocks, a labeled cubby with another child's name, or a snack cart in the background. A studio day is ideal; most directors shoot between nap and pickup with a phone. The job is to isolate a consented child (or staff) off the messy room — not to invent a Montessori loft you do not run, not to reshape a face, and not to tour every cleanup tool. Pet-sitter headers are a different clutter problem; this page is a daycare enrollment still.
Cut the person; keep the expression
Upload the sharpest frame with eye contact. Run background removal when the hero is one child or one teacher. Inspect hair, collar, and hands at 100%. Swap to a soft neutral or a real wall color from your classroom — not a CGI playground. If a typed nametag or date stamp sits on the frame, that is a text pass after isolation — paint the stamp, not the face. Do not clone a second child into an empty room to look "full."
Square packet versus Google cover
Enrollment PDFs often use a square or 4:5 portrait. Google Business covers are wider. Export both from the same still. Uploads here accept JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF up to 10MB and 6000×6000 px. A 2400 px JPEG under 4MB typically returns in under 60 seconds. Export at least 1080 px on the short edge so zoom holds on mobile. Skip motion-blurred hallway runs. Skip 400 px WhatsApp forwards from a parent group.
Consent is the whole job
Only edit photos parents signed for marketing, with the same usage window as the enrollment campaign. Crop faces out if the release is classroom-only. Do not lift another center's brochure gallery. Do not reconstruct a cleaner outfit than the child wore. Name files `enrollment-smile-clean.jpg` versus `enrollment-smile-as-shot.jpg` so a complaint has an original. Keep the release in the same dated folder as the live JPEG.
Batch the tour week, not the archive
Process this week's consented stills with one field so the packet feels like one school. Overnight cleanup of three years of archive is a different project. A second auto pass will not invent catchlights. Relight by the window and reshoot when the face is in shadow.
When the open house is Friday and the hero still shows another child's cubby label, isolate the smile you have rights to show, keep the classroom honest, and publish a photo that matches the room parents will walk into.
