Mindbody Lobby Posters: Erase Last Season's Class Times

Update gym schedule posters with AI text cleanup: remove outdated class times, keep brand art intact, add fresh hours later, and export HD prints for lobby scr…

The lobby still sells last quarter's 6 a.m. HIIT

Front-desk staff still get asked about a class that moved because the A2 poster in the lobby shows last term's grid. Rebuilding in Canva from a layered file is ideal. Reality is a flattened JPEG in the shared drive, exported from a designer who left six months ago, while the new Mindbody hours go live tonight. Members screenshot the poster. They do not open the app first. The job is to keep the gym's brand art and athlete photo, erase burned-in class times and trainer names, and export a blank master you can letter again for the lobby, Instagram, and the member email. This pass is text removal, not a full redesign and not a background swap of the whole gym.

Brush the schedule, leave the lockup

Upload the existing poster. Brush only the typed schedule — day columns, start times, FULL stamps, a coach who left — and let reconstruction fill the kettlebell photo or brand color behind the type. Do not brush the logo lockup or the hero athlete you intend to keep. If a soft sponsor badge is logo-shaped rather than lettering, leave it or send that one mark to watermark removal; this article stays on schedule text. Zoom to 100% on the former times. You want the background grain to match, not a blurred rectangle where 5:30 a.m. used to sit. Watch for stacked type: a late "cancelled" stamp over an older time often leaves a double ghost if you only paint the top line. Paint the whole stack. If the grid is a photo of a printed poster, straighten the scan first; a keystoned A2 shot will make reconstructed letters lean even after the times are gone.

Print math versus the 6000 px cap

Lobby prints often target 300 dpi. ISO A2 is 420×594 mm, which is about 4961×7016 pixels at 300 dpi — taller than the 6000 px long-edge upload cap on Backgroundcanvas. Reproducible constraint: export the cleaned master at the maximum the tool allows (6000 px on the long edge, 10MB, JPG/PNG/WebP/AVIF). Give that file to the print shop and let them upscale, or start from a layered source if the poster must be optically sharp at A2. A 1200 px web JPEG cannot become a sharp lobby print no matter how many times you run the model. Social needs square and 4:5 crops; export at least 2000 px on the long edge so type you add later stays sharp. A 2400 px JPEG under 4MB typically returns in under 60 seconds; a dense A2 scan near 10MB can take longer and may need a second brush pass on leftover glyphs. Mindbody tiles and email headers are smaller: downscale from the same master so the lobby and the inbox do not show two different athletes.

Lettering the blank master

Once the grid is gone, put new times in your layout tool, not back in the photo editor. Use the gym's type style: if the old poster was a condensed sans at a fixed column width, match that, and leave the same margins so the logo lockup still sits on the brand grid. Export three sizes from one layout: A2 PDF for print, 1080×1350 for Instagram, 1080×1080 for the story cover. If a trainer name is also a photo credit in the corner, decide whether that credit stays. Clearing a person who no longer works there is ops. Clearing a photographer credit you agreed to keep is not.

When reconstruction is the wrong tool

Skip text removal when hours cover most of the athlete's face or sit over heavy JPEG blocking — those frames need a layered source, not another auto pass. Skip it when the "poster" is a photo of a TV schedule with moire; reshoot the screen or export from the box that feeds the display. Only edit artwork the gym owns or that a designer cleared for reuse. Clearing outdated class times is normal ops. Lifting another club's branded poster is not. Keep a dated folder of blank masters without type so every schedule change is lettering only.

Rights and a last check before you send to print

Confirm the athlete signed a marketing release, and that the sponsor badge you left in the frame is still a current partner. Print one cheap tabloid proof before the A2 run. If glyph ghosts show at arm's length, brush again; if they only show at 100% on a monitor, the lobby will usually pass. Hang the new poster before the first class of the term so the desk is not arguing with a wall.

When the new term starts tonight and the lobby still shows last season's bootcamp, clear the grid, export the 6000 px master, and hang a poster that matches the classes members can actually book.
