OBS Starting-Soon Screens: Clear Last Collab’s Type at 1920×1080

Chat is in; the PNG still says last Friday

Twitch’s broadcasting guidelines list 1920×1080 as the resolution for 1080p encodes. Most OBS base canvases match that. Streamers still have a flattened starting-soon PNG that says “COLLAB WITH JULES — FRIDAY 8PM” while tonight is a solo ranked grind. Redesigning the webcam frame is a week. Clearing the date is this afternoon. The job is to paint out the burned-in schedule, keep the frame and logo, and letter tonight with an OBS text source — not to stretch a Discord 960×540 banner onto a 1080p canvas, and not to tour every cleanup tool.

Paint the schedule; keep the webcam hole

Upload the 1920×1080 overlay or starting-soon still to text removal. Brush “LIVE AT 8,” last month’s raid target, and an expired sponsor line as one block. Zoom to 100% on the frame edge. You want the original grain. Do not paint the transparent hole where the webcam sits if that hole is already empty; you are clearing letters on the solid art. A sticker pack from a sub-goal celebration is a different pass after the type is gone. Mixing stickers and type in one stroke is why a cheek still shows a yellow blob. If auto ate a letter of the channel wordmark, you need the layered file.

Canvas versus output

Work on the same pixel grid as OBS Base (Canvas) Resolution, usually 1920×1080. Output can later scale to 1280×720 if bitrate is tight; that is an encode choice, not a reason to reconstruct on a 720p screenshot. Uploads here accept JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF up to 10MB and 6000×6000 px. A 1920 px PNG under 4MB typically returns in under 60 seconds. Export a flattened PNG if the overlay has no alpha, or flatten onto the brand field first if Apple-style alpha rules are not the issue — Twitch overlays often need transparency, so only flatten the starting-soon full-screen still, not a frame PNG that must stay see-through. If the file must keep a webcam hole, do not run a pass that fills the hole with invented wallpaper.

Starting-soon is not a panel

Channel info panels are a narrow column on the channel page, often discussed as 320 px wide in creator guides. This article is the full-canvas still you show before you go live. Do not reconstruct a 1920×1080 collab date onto a 320 px panel and stretch it back. Letter panels separately. Skip the tool when the type covers most of a face, when the file is a phone photo of a monitor, or when you do not own the pack. Clearing your own expired collab line is production. Lifting another streamer’s overlay pack is not.

Offline screen versus BRB

Keep `starting-soon-base.png` without type, `brb-base.png`, and `offline-base.png`. Letter each scene in OBS with GDI+ text so a delay is a source toggle, not another reconstruction. Do not bake subscriber counts into the JPEG. A second auto pass will not invent linework the first pass flattened. When the offline screen still names last season’s tournament, clear the overlay, export at canvas size, and change the Image source path in OBS so the old file is not cached in the scene.

Bitrate is not a cleanup problem

Dropped frames and a soft overlay are encode issues. Reconstruction will not fix a 2500 kbps 1080p stream. Match canvas to the PNG, then set bitrate per Twitch’s guideline tables. When chat is waiting and the still still says last Friday, clear the type, keep the frame, and go live with a canvas that matches tonight’s scene.

GDI+ text survives a delay; pixels do not

OBS can add Text (GDI+) on top of a clean still. A rain delay or a late collab is a source toggle. Reconstructing “8PM” into the PNG means you will be here again at 8:40. Keep the Image source pointed at `starting-soon-base.png`. Letter the clock in OBS. Channel panels on the about page are a separate 320 px-wide habit in creator guides; do not treat this 1920×1080 still as a panel. If the overlay PNG must stay transparent around a webcam, skip any pass that fills empty pixels with invented wallpaper — use a starting-soon full-screen still for this tool, then keep the frame PNG untouched.

Cache the new file in the scene collection

OBS can keep showing the old PNG if the path did not change. Save a new filename, update the Image source, and check Program view at 1920×1080. Twitch’s guideline tables are about bitrate and 1080p encodes, not about burned-in type. Dropped frames will not be fixed by reconstruction. When chat is in and the still still names last Friday, clear the letters, keep the frame, and go live with a canvas that matches tonight.
