How to Remove Stock Watermarks from Vinyl Record Shop Photos

Keep the sleeve art you photographed, clear stock or supplier corner marks, then post clean grid tiles for Instagram and your shop site.

The grid still carries a stock corner

Buyers on Instagram, Discogs shares, and your shop site decide in a swipe whether a copy looks real. A supplier preview stamp, a stock-site diagonal, or a phone HUD date in the corner loses that swipe. Reshooting every arrival under a softbox is ideal; most shops shoot bins with a phone between customers. The job is to clear marks that do not belong on your retail still — not to invent a mint sleeve you do not have, not to paste a listening-booth loft you do not run, and not to tour every cleanup tool. Tattoo healed-photo stamps and Steam concept-art marks are different rights problems; this page is a record-shop sleeve tile.

Paint the mark; leave the sleeve grain

Upload the sharpest still of the jacket you own or consigned. Run watermark removal on the corner badge, soft diagonal, or date overlay. Zoom to 100% on title type, spine edge, and paper texture. You want the original grain, not a plastic patch. Do not brush the catalog number you need for Discogs. Do not invent a gatefold that is not in the bin. If a handwritten bin price sits on the shrink, that is a text pass after the stock mark is gone — one routing sentence, then back to logos. If the mark covers most of the artist name, stop and reshoot; reconstruction cannot invent the lettering you need for search.

Square grid versus product page

Instagram favors square. Product pages can stay slightly taller. Export both from the same cleaned still. Uploads here accept JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF up to 10MB and 6000×6000 px. A 2400 px JPEG under 4MB typically returns in under 60 seconds. Export at least 1080 px on the short edge so zoom holds on mobile. Skip motion-blurred handhelds of a spinning spinner rack. Skip 400 px screenshots pulled from another seller listing.

Rights and what you actually stock

Only post sleeves you photographed in your shop or that a consignor cleared for marketing. Clearing a stock preview mark from a photo you took of your own copy is normal ops. Lifting another shop's chrome grid is not. Keep color and wear as shot; cleanup is for stamps and HUDs, not for selling a sealed copy you will ship with a split seam. Name files by catalog number: `abc-123-clean.jpg` versus `abc-123-as-shot.jpg` so a dispute has an original.

Batching after a Friday delivery

Same window light, same field of view, exports named by catalog. Ten new arrivals after the box is opened, not fifty. A second auto pass will not invent a sharp spine. Relight and reshoot when the sleeve is in shadow. Bakery boards and piano recital flyers are type jobs; keep this pass on logo-shaped marks.

When the weekend rush hits and the best arrival still shows a stock corner, clear the mark, keep the sleeve honest, and publish a square that matches what is in the bin.
